La Bible compare un croyant nouvellement régénéré à un bébé. La vie qu'il possède nouvellement dans son esprit est aussi minuscule et faible qu'un bébé qui naît naturellement. Il n'y a rien de mal à ce qu'il soit un bébé tant qu'il ne reste pas trop longtemps à ce stade. Tout adulte doit être un enfant. Mais s'il persiste comme tel très longtemps, son esprit ne progressant jamais au-delà de ce qu'il était lorsqu'il a été régénéré pour la première fois quelques années auparavant, alors quelque chose ne va pas du tout.

The Bible compares a newly regenerated believer to a baby. The life in his spirit which he newly possesses is as tiny and weak as a baby naturally born. There is nothing wrong with his being a baby as long as he does not remain too great a time in that stage. Every adult must being as a child. But should he persist as such very long, his spirit never progressing beyond what it was when he was first regenerated some years before, then something is drastically wrong.
